Submission to the Australian Government’s independent review of the Commonwealth Modern Slavery Act 2018

We were pleased to provide a submission to the Australian Government’s independent review of the Commonwealth Modern Slavery Act 2018 (MSA).
 
We drew on our experience working with Australian and global companies to support their modern slavery and broader human rights risk management and reporting approaches to highlight options for the Government to consider in the review. The visual below summarises our key points, designed to offer practical and robust ways to strengthen the MSA while ensuring Australian businesses continue to receive the necessary guidance to implement it effectively in practice.

The review process is an important milestone in Australia’s response to modern slavery and we commend the open and constructive approach taken by Professor John McMillan and the review team at the Attorney-General's Department. We look forward to the release of the review report in early 2023.
